Refereeing soccer can be a rewarding experience for high school (HS) enthusiasts. It's a way to stay physically active, to stay involved in the sport you love, and to help solve the severe shortage issue facing HS sports nationwide. Over 50 games were cancelled for lack of referees in 2023 and that number is expected to grow in 2024.
There are many benefits to being a HS referee:
- You can make over $100 per nite
- Have the flexibility to ref 1 game or 5 games per week-you name the schedule
- It is easy to get certified…classes offered on line every month and take a maximum of 4 hrs to complete
- Once completed, a mentoring program will guide you through your early games
- Learn the game from a new perspective
- Become a better soccer parent, player or spectator
